Civil Plumbing Services – 2009/10
Description
Swan Water Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of Thiess Services and holds an alliance with Water Corporation of Western Australia for the maintenance of $2.5bn worth of Water Corporations northern infrastructure.
During 2009/10 Anchor Plumbing & Gas provided services to Swan Water that can be broken down into the following areas throughout the Northern area of Perth WA:
| Burst mains | Consisted of a 24/7 standby relationship for the quick attendance and rectification of burst mains as reported through Swan Water. This work required attendance within 120 minutes of work order to commence shutting down the water lines feeding the burst, excavation of the site, repair of the burst main line, charge line back up and reinstate and clean up area. |
| Hydrant changeover | This component of work consisted of the changeover of close to 1,000 standard street hydrants throughout Perth metro that are used by the fire brigade as well as those with a licence to take water from the system. Initially this required advance 48 hour notice to affected households in the street that water would need to be shut off between certain times. Then the subsequent actual shutting down of the water line prior to excavating and replacing hydrant, charging line back up so that services would be available by advised time as well as reinstatement and clean up. |
| Civil plumbing | Road Works and Realignment of Water Mains – 2010 Over the course of 2009/10 Main Roads Western Australia carried out works along Great Northern Highway in Herne Hill WA. Swan Water contracted Anchor Plumbing & Gas to assist this project the realignment of the water mains along the highway. This work took approximately two months and involved excavating manholes, raising the manhole covers to the required height for the new road and reinstating the site worked on. |
